Dermal Fillers Wrinkle Reduction

Dermal fillers are injectable products that help to increase the volume of facial skin so that wrinkles are pushed up and out. They work in different ways and on different areas of the face. Some of the most common ingredients found in fillers are collagen, hyaluronic acid, and fat transfer.

Collagen Fillers

Collagen is one of the main components of skin tissue. This protein adds bulk and a framework for skin cells to build around. Its age-related loss causes thinner skin that develops wrinkles. A collagen filler can rectify this deficiency and partially reverse the process.

Hyaluronic Acid Fillers

Like collagen, hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance found in skin tissue. Getting older causes a loss of production and a consequent thinning and drying of the skin, leading to the formation of lines and wrinkles. After injection, a hyaluronic acid filler will draw moisture into your skin and fill in light lines and wrinkles.

Fat Transfer Fillers

A fat transfer filler will restore facial volume and smooth away wrinkles, but it is somewhat different from other fillers in that we use fat taken from the patient’s own body and inject it into the face to reduce wrinkles. This type of filler has the lowest incidence of adverse events since your body does not recognize it as a foreign substance.

Results

Most dermal fillers offer excellent results that are immediately evident. Your results may last for a year or more, depending upon which product was injected. After the filler wears off, you will need periodic touch-ups to maintain your results.
