The decision to opt for cosmetic surgery, such as a facelift or neck lift is often preceded by questions about these procedures, the anticipated benefits, and recovery time. Palmer Cosmetic Surgery assembled this facelift FAQ article to help answer the facelift questions we’re asked most often.

Let’s get started!

Do I Need A Facelift?

Whether or not to get cosmetic surgery like a facelift is a deeply personal decision of course. When you have sagging skin on your face or neck, it takes more than an advanced skin care regimen to correct — you may want to consider a facelift at our Ft. Lauderdale clinic. A facelift procedure remains the most effective way to create a firmer, more youthful appearance.

Which Facelift Procedure is Right For Me?

There are several types of facelift procedures, as well as other cosmetic procedures to correct the effects of aging, such as the neck lift and eye lift. The place to begin is with a free consultation at Palmer Cosmetic Surgery. Dr. Palmer and his staff will discuss your goals with you and he and his staff will craft an individualized treatment plan for you.

Can I have an eye lift done at the same time as my facelift?

Yes, you can. Clients who are looking to reduce the appearance of fine lines, and wrinkles around their eyes often opt to have an eye lift done at the same time as their facelift procedure. This approach has several benefits.

First, it will provide even more pleasing results than the facelift or eye lift alone can. Second, having both procedures done at the same time lessens total recovery time and it can prevent the need for additional surgeries.

How Long Does Facelift Recovery Take?

Facelift recovery time depends on a few factors—first, the procedure itself. For example, a mini facelift or ‘mini-lift’ may have a recovery time of as little as 2-3 weeks. A full, deep plane facelift, on the other hand, may require 1-2 months or more. The benefit is that the deep plane facelift delivers much more significant results which are also longer lasting than a mini facelift.

The second factor in facelift recovery time is the individual. Everyone’s body is different, some require less time than others to heal. The key is to be patient with yourself and follow any instructions given by Dr. Palmer for the best outcome.

How Long Does A Facelift Last?

Everyone’s body is different, but your physical health and lifestyle play an important role in both the youthfulness of your face and how long you can expect your facelift to last. The results of a deep plane facelift may last as long as 10-15 years under ideal conditions.

Follow these tips to help maintain your newly rejuvenated appearance:

  • Eat a healthy diet including fresh fruits and vegetables.
  • Drink plenty of water regularly.
  • Use high-quality skincare products.
  • Avoid excess sun exposure.
  • Avoid alcohol and drug use.
  • Do not smoke or vape.

Is A Facelift Procedure Painful?

Any surgical procedure will come with some risk of discomfort or pain. Dr. Palmer’s over 25 years of experience help ensure that every client is kept as comfortable as possible. Local anesthetics will mitigate discomfort during and immediately after the procedure.

You will likely feel a sense of fullness or tightness for the first week or two as your face heals. This discomfort is typically well-managed with prescription medications. After the first few days, most clients switch to non-narcotic or over-the-counter analgesics.
