There are several tips that a person can use after they have had an abdominoplasty.

Listen

The first tip is to follow the advice of our plastic surgeon after the surgery. You might not want to do everything that the doctor tells you to do but you do need to do what they advise. If you do not follow their advice, then there is a chance of you having a lot of complications from the surgery. Most of the time, the doctor is going to tell you not to do certain activities. This is because these activities can cause some complications.

Help

The second tip is to make sure that you arrange for some extra help while you are recovering. In other words, you are going to need to have a good support system. This means that someone is going to need to stay with you for a day or two after the surgery. This is because you are going to have a hard time standing after you have had the tummy tuck. This means that you won’t be able to do certain tasks like getting out of bed, showering, and taking off your clothes when you need to get a shower.

Rest

The third tip is to make sure that you find a way to get plenty of rest. In order to comfortable in the bed, you are going to need to have 2 to 3 pillows behind your head and then a pillow underneath your knees. The best way that you are going to be able to get out of bed is to sit up, then move your legs to the edge of the bed, then you should be able to stand from this position. This is one of the main reasons why you are going to need help.

Nutrition

The fourth tip is to make sure that you are eating all of the right foods during your recovery. This is because without the proper nutrition you are not going to be able to heal like you need to. Some of the foods that you need to be eating include pineapple and leafy greens. All of these foods are going to be rich in Vitamin C. It is a good idea to stay away from any foods that might cause gas like beans and cabbage. You should also avoid eating extremely salty foods and drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.

Smoking

The fifth tip is to quit smoking. This is because the blood vessels are going to be cut during the procedure. The healing of the wound is going to be compromised in the areas close to the abdomen. This is going to be even more serious if you smoke because the vessels are suddenly going to close so they are going hinder the results of your healing. Therefore, you are going to need to quit smoking at least 4 to 6 weeks before you have the surgery so that you will be able to recover more quickly.
