Breast Implant Revision

Russel Palmer

Breast implant revision is performed to address a wide range of implant-related concerns such as size change, implant rupture repair, correcting implant hardness, and ripples. Here at Palmer Cosmetic Surgery in Fort Lauderdale, FL., we perform many of the corrective treatments necessary for revising breast implant concerns in order to help our patients safely reach their aesthetic goals including:

Size Exchange

After receiving an initial implant procedure, it is not uncommon for some women to feel unsatisfied with the cup size they originally chose. In these cases, a size exchange can then be performed by switching out the implants to either downsize or enlarge the breasts.

Implant Rupture/Deflation Repair

Regardless of the type of implant, saline or silicone, it is not uncommon for implants to wear down over time. In fact, it is suggested to switch out implants over the years in order to prevent any complications as a result of deflation or rupture. If you have a saline implant and a leak occurs, the deflation in breast size can be obvious in appearance. However with silicone, it can be more difficult to identify a leak without an MRI or ultrasound. If a leak is detected,  surgery is necessary for correcting the implant to avoid additional health risks.

Implant Hardness

After receiving breast implants, the tissue surrounding the breasts can harden, also known as capsular contracture. This can cause the breast to appear more spherical in shape, higher on the chest, and can also cause pain. This can be corrected by reshaping the breast to be more symmetrical, comfortable, and more natural looking.

Ripples

For instances concerning saline implants that are over-the-muscle, if the skin on the surface appears wrinkly or has ripples, switching to silicone behind-the-muscle implants can greatly improve appearance.

Treatment Options

Regardless of the implant concern, in the hands of our caring professionals, we will work with you to find the best possible personalized treatment for correcting your implant concerns.  Whether scar tissue needs to be removed, the implants need to be removed or switched, we offer a variety of specialized procedures for successfully revising your breast implants.
